How setup works
The short version: setting up takes a few minutes. You put in a prepaid SIM, strap the camera to a post or a tree, and the first photo arrives in the app on your phone. If you get stuck, a real person does it with you on a call.
Before you buy
Stand where the camera will go and look at the bars on your phone, on each network if you can. A 4G camera needs coverage at that exact spot, not at the house. Our SIM and data guide explains which networks to check and what data costs (usually $10 to $15 a month on prepaid).
When it arrives
- Get the SIM ready. A prepaid data SIM on a network that reaches your spot. Activate it and turn its PIN off in a phone before it goes in the camera.
- Pair it with the app. Follow the steps in the box to connect the camera to the app on your phone.
- Strap it up. Post, tree, shed wall or gate. Chest height for people and vehicles, knee height on a game trail, higher and angled down if you want it out of reach. Face the lens away from the afternoon sun, and the solar panel towards the north.
- Walk past it. The photo should arrive on your phone. If it doesn't, email us.
If it doesn't work first go
Email support@kelpiecam.com and book a setup call. We stay on the line until a photo arrives on your phone. If the problem is signal and we can't fix it, the Signal Guarantee applies: full refund, return postage on us.
Not a tech person?
If you can send a text message, you can run one of these cameras. And if you'd rather have someone walk you through it, that is what the setup call is for.
